Eamo's Kids now on Jacky Winter

'LIFE' Exhibition East Gallery London

I'm super excited to be a part of this incredible show in London of Australian Artists. And was lucky enough to have part of my piece for the show featured on the flyer. Anyone in London on the 1st of July head down to East Gallery, proceeds from sales going to RED,  a good cause. Thanks to Jimmy from Heaps Good. Details on the show below. And a special preview of my piece closer to the show's opening.

Life
is the debut UK exhibition curated by Heaps Good, showcasing 19 of Australia’s leading emerging and established artists with the aim of raising funds and awareness for (RED).

On show between 1st – 6th July at
East Gallery, London – this groundbreaking exhibition features work from artists:
JEREMYVILLE / WE BUY YOUR KIDS / JONATHAN ZAWADA / REG MOMBASSA / EAMO DONNELLY / KAREENA ZEREFOS / TIMBA SMITS / SARAH LARNACH / LILLY PIRI / BEN BROWN / RILLA ALEXANDER / ALTER / BEASTMAN / JAMES GULLIVER / NUMSKULL / KATE BANAZI / EXPIALIDOCIOUS / JAMES KAPE / JAMES MCNAMARA.

This diverse group covers a wide range of Australian visual creativity and even brings in some old faces of uniquely important aesthetics from Australia.
Each artist has created a two-colour screen printed poster (one colour being red) to the theme of ‘Life’. Heaps Good aim to raise awareness and funds for (RED). (RED) works with the world’s most iconic brands to make unique product items, giving up to 50 percent of their profits to invest in HIV and AIDS programs. Every dollar goes straight to the people who need it. Print Club London are facilitating the production of artworks and co-curating the show.
OPENING: 5pm, July 1 2011
East Gallery
214 Brick Lane, London, E1 6SA

BETA Op Shop find of the week!

Picked up these two beauties for 20 cents a pop at the local Oppy. Lucky for me I scored a working Sony Beta tape player from a tip a few years back. VHS and BETA just never die! Haven't had a chance to bust out some 1984 moves with Leigh Farnell just yet, that's him taking an air mark on the cover.

GOLDEN PLAINS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2010 2009 DETAIL

After last weeks AGIdeas presentation I thought I would post a few slides from it here showing some close ups of the details. It seemed to resonate well with everyone and the slides of the GP4 art gave the 3000 strong crowd a nice yellow glow in Hamer Hall. I'm really proud to be the artist of Golden Plains each year since it began 4 years ago, it's sort of my baby and pet project, and like I mentioned in my talk, the only Australian client I work for on a regular basis. Great to see the cloud logo is still kicking in each years scenes. Lastly, I finally got my mitts on two extra special stubby holders from this years festival which makes myself and my 'Australiana archive' a very happy chappy.

ACADEMY FOR MEN Issue 4 Out Now

Academy for Men issue 4 is out today featuring a shoot / feature we did last year on a cold wintery arvo. I drove the gang in the '74 XB Fairmont out to Oak Park in outer suburbs of Melbourne, where rumour had it, hiding down the back streets amongst the cream brick palaces was an old empty Milkbar, said Milkbar was in fact the stomping ground of my partner in the 80s after school and on weekends. Picture a bunch of suburban scallywags hanging their skinny knobbly legs over the edge of the bluestone wall, mixed lollies and Streets Ice Creams in hand, acting up - the perfect location.
Rennie Ellis was our inspiration for the shoot, particularly his study of 'The GangWindsor 1976'. I supplied the car, Esky, acid wash skinny jeans and vintage Advance Australia knitted jumper. Rhys supplied the iconic Australian footwear - the moccasin. The look was to be an 80s bogan scallywag.
Also below are a few behind the scenes b/w shots taken by Monique on her old Olympus 35mm and some Polaroids thrown in for an extra 20 cents.
Thanks to Rhys Ripper from Academy for Men and Trevor King for shooting the spread.
Have a Captain Cook at the full issue here in all it's glory - http://academyformen.com/

AGIdeas 2010 Speaking at I am

Have I mentioned on here that I'm speaking at the 2010 AGIdeas Design Conference in Melbourne? Not yet! So excited to be a part of this, quite daunting, but hopefully if I picture everyone naked wearing only corked hats and zinc cream I'll get through it no worries!
